The new management of Casa de Moneda, led by Ángel Mario Elettore, is continuing the path of transformation and modernization as directed by the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa. This transformation aims to propel the state-owned company into a technological and quality leap, establishing it as a benchmark in the sector, both regionally and globally. This ensures not only its present but also its future.

CMA is installing the new Super Simultan IV machine at its Retiro Plant, equipped with the latest generation technology for banknote printing. This installation followed the necessary facility adjustments, the release of the machinery from the port, which had been there since November 2022, and a security operation that involved the transportation of 14 containers.

The Simultan technology enables the simultaneous printing of both sides of banknotes, achieving perfect registration in the printing process, which is a cornerstone of the security measures provided by the equipment. Currently, this type of technology is used by both the world’s leading Mints and private companies dedicated to banknote printing.

This new production line will double the production capacity while significantly reducing operational costs. It offers improved color registration precision, stability, and printing speed (10,000 sheets per hour). Additionally, it allows for the simultaneous application of up to 10 colors and incorporates new security features, an innovative UV ink drying system (enabling uninterrupted workflow), and a 100% online quality inspection system using scanning cameras (with white, UV, and infrared light) and touchscreen monitors for error detection in the offset printing stage, preventing defective products from reaching the final process and reducing costly waste.

The completion of installation, testing, and commissioning of the new machine is scheduled for the last months of 2023. By the new year, CMA will be in a position not only to meet the demands of the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic but also to offer banknote printing services to potential clients in the region.

Considering this new business opportunity that is opening up for CMA, the certification and approval stages of the ISO standards have already been completed. These include ISO 9001 for Quality Management System, ISO 37001 for Anti-Bribery Management System, ISO 37301 for Compliance Management System, and ISO 14298 for Security Printing Process Management System. All of these certifications are required for the printing and commercialization of banknotes.

In this way, Casa de Moneda is leveraging its significant technical and human resources, transforming its present, and envisioning a future that solidifies the pillars of national monetary sovereignty and allows it to play a leading role in the global security printing market.
