Commemorative medals for the 40th anniversary of the Malvinas War

Casa de Moneda Argentina was in charge of the design and minting of commemorative medals for the 40th anniversary of the start of the Malvinas War.

April 2 marked the 40th anniversary of the start of the Malvinas War. For this anniversary, the Museo de las Islas Malvinas e Islas del Atlantico Sur held an act led by the president Alberto Fernández in commemoration of Día del Veterano y de los Caídos.

In a symbolic act of recognition, the national government delivered 15 commemorative medals designed by CMA to veterans and relatives of the fallen. At the same time, another 20,000 decorations were awarded throughout the country to those who were part of the war.

The badges were delivered by the President; Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero; Defense Minister Jorge Taiana; the Minister of Gender, Diversity and Women, Elizabeth Gómez Alcorta and the head of the Chamber of Deputies, Sergio Massa, during the ceremony that took place at the Museo Malvinas.

At the ceremony, President Alberto Fernández stated that: “The Malvinas were, are and will be Argentinian. We will always maintain the commitment assumed with the memory of the fallen in national territory”.
