CMA achieved the certification of the ISO 14298:2021 Standard

As a result of the certification audit carried out by the SQS Organization between November 7 and 11, CMA achieved the certification of the ISO 14298:2021 Standard for Printing Security Process Management with the following scope:

  • Manufacturing of banknotes in the Retiro and Don Torcuato plants.
  • Manufacturing of passports at Retiro Plant.
  • Manufacturing of license plates at the Don Torcuato Plant.

CMA is already included in the list of companies certified under Standard 14298, published on the INTERGRAF website, the European association of the graphic industry that represents companies in the graphic sector:

The ISO 14298 is a security standard highly recognized by producers of valuable documents that use added security functions designed to protect documents against falsification of their characteristics (“security printers”).

ISO 14298 brings together a wide variety of controls, including logical security, physical security, quality control and financial security to ensure maximum security throughout the printing process. With this International Standard, the organization establishes, documents, implements and maintains a security printing management system that is regularly reviewed to continually improve its effectiveness.

It is important to highlight that the certification of this Standard is part of the commitment assumed by the CMA administration to achieve constant organizational strengthening, materialized in the 2020-2023 Strategic Plan. This achievement constitutes a milestone in the company’s history, and places it among a select group of mints around the world. Internationally, only 10 Mints have this certification at the “Central Bank Level” level (highest level of Standard 14298).

Protection of products, processes, information, means of production, security features and the supply chain are some of the requirements that CMA has integrated and reinforced in its management system.

ISO 14298 increases the prestige of CMA and it proves its organizational competence in security printing. In addition, it generates the following benefits:

  • Aligns the organization with industry standards for information security management and quality of printing process.
  • Guarantees differentiation in the printing security products market.
  • Positions the company as a preferential supplier in the bidding processes.
  • Clearly establishes how to address and manage key security printing and vendor requirements.
  • Ensures the protection of the information and the printing/provider systems.

This milestone has been achieved after arduous tasks of reviewing and adapting all the company’s security controls, and is the result of the strong commitment from the Board of Directors and from each one of the workers in CMA.
