Regional Banknote of the Year 2015

Eva Perón Banknote:
An Instant Towards
Eternity

The Tribute to a Heroic Adventure, Full of Triumphs and Resistances

Recognized with the “Regional Banknote of the Year 2015” for its design, technical sophistication, and strict security measures, the $100 banknote is a tribute that took 60 years to fulfill the objective of honoring Evita’s legacy and evoking her passage into immortality. Besides being the first Argentine banknote to feature a woman as its protagonist, it represents the culmination of a story filled with resistance and triumphs worthy of a country that builds upon memory and towards the future.

Avant-garde and Aesthetics in an Act of Sovereignty

This project brought together the best artists to recreate, with a modern and avant-garde look, the design of the 5-peso bill of 1952, which had the portrait of Evita on the obverse. Roger Pfund, creator of the most exquisite monetary designs today, together with the team of Casa de Moneda designers and international experts created a highly symbolic banknote: fervor, enthusiasm, emotion, femininity and determination are reflected in the reconstruction of the image of the defender of the poor and the oppressed.

ORIGINAL REPRODUCTION OF EVA PERON'S BANKNOTE, MARCH 4, 1953.

“Noted for its design, national relevance, balance of security measures, identification with the country’s national ideology, population aspirations, and public education.”
